Princess Chiomara

Why she kicks ass:

• She was the wife of a Cheif of the Galatian Gauls in Turkey.
• When the Romans invaded, they captured many of the tribe, including Chiomara, who was said to be “a woman of exceptional beauty”.
• A centurion who oversaw the captives made sexual advances towards her and, when she rejected him, raped her. To rid his guilt, he offered to return her- if her people gave him a ransom.
• They agreed to pay the ransom and went to meet him. When the Roman counted the gold, Chiomara indicated to her people to cut his head off. Which they did.
• She walked back home with the head of her rapist wrapped in her dress. Met her husband, and threw the head at his feet and declared “Only one man who has lain with me shall remain alive.”
