Anonymous asked: Don't you think that using wonder woman as an icon is reducing this blog to representing "women who kick ass" as a white cis able bodied woman?
A valid point, and our apologies Anon. <3 We try to be fully inclusive here at WKA, but the icon hadn’t really occurred to us. We’ve had this icon for quite awhile now, so I’m sure the other mods wouldn’t mind changing things up a bit. :) Any suggestions for the next icon, friends?
Anonymous asked: you guys have been misspelling "ramadan" in your recent posts. love the blog, by the way.
Thank you! And it’s been corrected. Thank you for pointing it out.
Anonymous asked: Hi, in your recent posts, you have tagged "Radaman", I think you mean "Ramadan"? If not, then please excuse this message haha
You are absolutely right! I corrected them. We apologize :/
Anonymous asked: Do you just submit the person's name and you do the rest (research, finding reasons why they kick ass, etc.) or do you submit the person as well as reasons why they kick ass?
Either is fine, really. I mean, obviously it’s a lot easier on us if you submit the research too (and you’ll see it on the blog a lot sooner if you do that), but we’re willing to do the research if you only submit the name. It’s nice if you at least tell us what they’re known for though (“inventor”, “activist”, whatever), in case there’s more than one person with that name. :)
Anonymous asked: what's MWMF?
Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival.
They have a “cis-ladies” only policy. Somehow Trans men also factor into that policy. It’s a whole tangled mess of Transmisogynic fun, and douchebaggery.
Anonymous asked: Have you featured Alexandra Billings?
We sure have! She’s featured right here. We try to tag our posts with the name of the woman, so if you’re ever unsure if we’ve covered someone already, just put in “womenwhokickass.tumblr.com/tagged/firstname-lastname”. :)
Anonymous asked: can we give examples of kick ass women from history, who aren't alive?
A major part of our blog are people who are no longer alive. As long as they’re a woman, send them in!
Anonymous asked: I went through your "120 Trans Women you need to know" list, and calculated that 65% of your list is Non-white. Considering that TWOC are so marginalized/ignored on blogs like yours, I was surprised at the topic choice, let alone how well this blog went about creating an inclusive event that reflected reality. Instant Follow, Don't let me down and go the way of other history blogs.
Thank you so much! Being inclusive is our highest priority, so we’re pleased that we’re getting something right.
We encourage our followers to let us know if they feel like we’re lacking in any kind of kick ass women and we’ll do our best to correct it.
Anonymous asked: i want to friendship with u my dear
I’ll accept that friendship. ^_^
Any particular reason as to why I’ve earned this?
Anonymous asked: Does that mean you won't be posting Trans women anymore?
Of course not! Erasing such a huge chunk of kickass women? Absolutely not.
While I could only bring you folks 120 posts throughout September, I have dozens of Trans Ladies still needing to be featured on this blog.
But if you ever feel like the content we’re posting is ignoring Trans women- send us an ask!
Anonymous asked: Hi, could you please tell me where the photo of the anarchist woman with the flag is from? Thank you.
Could you send us a link of which image you’re referring to?
Anonymous asked: Not a question. I just appreciate you guys doing the trans* month. I was unaware of a lot of this kick ass people. = D
Thanks! I think it’s fantastic that our posts are becoming widely circulated- all these wonderful women definitely deserve to be well known, especially since the work they do is fantastic and kickass.
Anonymous asked: I nominate Laura Jane Grace!
Way ahead of ya!
Anonymous asked: this isnt meant to be mean but are you only going to post transgender women?? i enjoy that you post them and appreciate them, but is this a blog for transgender women only?? this isnt meant to be offensive by the way!!!!!!!!!1
This month is dedicated to acknowledging the achievements of kick ass trans* women, because we thought that they were under represented on the blog and they often don’t get the recognition they deserve in general.
We’ll return to posting all kinds of women, both trans* and cis, once the month is over. Or we might even start a new theme!
Anonymous asked: How about you guys actually get a Trans Person on this blog, huh?
Why do you assume that all of us are cis?
